My Audio Slide Show - Preoccupation

This is an idea I've had in my head for a while. My brother just got back today from his first tour of duty. Social networking sites and the Internet made it easier for my parents or myself to hear from him just about once a week in some form- text, email, message on Facebook. Still, there were times where we wouldn't hear from him for a few weeks. During those times, conversations with my parents were preoccupied by what's going on with my brother. Every once in a while, I would drift into a dark area wondering what I would do if something happened to him. So fun times would be marred by my preoccupation. My own sense of survivors guilt. This is supposed to be a reflection of that...

Sounds of Bushwick and What Entertains Me

It wasn't until I got into Garage Band and started fooling around with the other features that I realized I didn't hear much of what I recorded. I really thought you'd be able to hear all the sounds of the streets at night. But what was loud to me was lower on playback and virtually non existent on the final mix.

Manipulating Staten Island Ferry Photos

For manipulating my photos, I focused a lot on the color of the Staten Island Ferry. All of my photos were first edited to highlight a richer orange tone in them- to match the boats. I also focused more on the journey and less on the city scape, as I removed a couple of photos. I made my favorite photo blurry- the one with the two kids- mostly because I love the idea of kids just being a blur to adults. And the windblown effect on the last photo is my attempt to show what it feels like when you are running past a stationary group.
